Combine the Timurid splendour of Samarkand and the old-city atmosphere of Bukhara with Nurata’s sacred spring and a night in a desert yurt near Aydarkul Lake. This 6-day route is designed for travellers who want both historic architecture and a manageable taste of rural Uzbekistan.

Tour Plan

Arrival in Samarkand, transfer to the hotel and an orientation walk in the historic centre. Visit Registan Square and its three monumental madrasas.

Breakfast at the hotel. Discover Gur-e-Amir, the mausoleum of Amir Timur and the Timurid dynasty. Walk through the blue-tiled necropolis of Shah-i-Zinda. Visit Bibi-Khanum Mosque and browse the colourful Siab Bazaar. Visit Konigil village for a demonstration of traditional Samarkand paper-making.

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Nurata through desert and steppe landscapes. Visit the Chashma spring, ancient fortress ruins and the local mosque complex. Continue to a yurt camp near Aydarkul, settle in and enjoy a traditional dinner. Take a short camel ride and watch the sunset over the desert.

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Aydarkul Lake for a shoreline walk, seasonal swimming and a picnic-style lunch. Continue by road to Bukhara and check in at the hotel. Arrival in Bukhara, hotel check-in and an evening walk around Lyabi-Hauz.

Breakfast at the hotel. Walk through the Po-i-Kalyan ensemble, trading domes, Magoki-Attori Mosque and Lyabi-Hauz. Visit the Ark Citadel and Bolo-Hauz Mosque. See the Samanid Mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub and the local market. Enjoy free time and an evening atmosphere around Lyabi-Hauz.
