A compact 3-day journey for travellers with limited time, covering the essential monuments of Samarkand and Bukhara with a fast train connection between the cities. The pace is active but includes an evening in each historic centre.
Arrival in Samarkand, transfer to the hotel and an orientation walk in the historic centre. Visit Registan Square and its three monumental madrasas. Discover Gur-e-Amir, the mausoleum of Amir Timur and the Timurid dynasty.
Breakfast at the hotel. Walk through the blue-tiled necropolis of Shah-i-Zinda. Visit Bibi-Khanum Mosque and browse the colourful Siab Bazaar. Travel to Bukhara by train and transfer to the old city hotel. Arrival in Bukhara, hotel check-in and an evening walk around Lyabi-Hauz.
Breakfast at the hotel. Walk through the Po-i-Kalyan ensemble, trading domes, Magoki-Attori Mosque and Lyabi-Hauz. Visit the Ark Citadel and Bolo-Hauz Mosque. See the Samanid Mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub and the local market. Transfer to the airport or railway station for departure.
