Gur Emir Mausoleum is the mausoleum of Tamerlane (Amir Timur) and his family (Timurids). This masterpiece of Central Asian architecture occupies an important place in the history of world Islamic architecture.

Bibikhanum Cathedral Mosque is a grandiose cathedral mosque of Tamerlane, richly decorated with tiles, carved marble and paintings. It was restored from the ruins at the end of the XX century.

The Shahi Zinda Memorial Ensemble is the most revered pilgrimage site in Central Asia. Translated, the name means "The Living King".

Russian Samarkand is the name of the western part of the city, widely used in architecture and history Samarkand.

Tashkent
